With the Ancient

Dear Notebook,

Time for an update from me. I had an existing day today! But first some backstory, since I'm not sure if I told this already. The Ark's water basin got contaminated :(. I'm not sure if it's the Rot or not, but it looks a bit green or blue, which is not good. Lincoln decided it was time to do something about it 14 days ago. He send Ruby, Ava, Finley and Felix out in search of the Pure Plant. That's a place mentioned in old writings, stories say it has an endless supply of clean water!

So yeah, I miss seeing Ruby, and the worst thing is, they are still not back! They should be back now for sure. I'm worried... :( Apparently I'm not the only one. This morning Lincoln asked me to join a group he is setting up to go look for them. It includes Tesla! The others are Rianna, Bolt, Garrett and Flux (and you get Finn for free with him).

Well, I didn't say no, so here I am in the middle of the Zone! We did see some awesome things today, but no sign of Ruby. Let me explain what we saw by this map on which I'm keeping track of everything. K-16 is the sector where the Ark is. First we went to sector J-17, which is to the North-West.

J-17:
Tesla quickly found a path through this sector, she even found some grub! It looked contaminated but I'll have a look at it later. Maybe we can make it work.

In the middle of the sector there is this big stone building with a huge spire! Inside there where rotten wooden benches and a lot of rubble. Behind a big table there was a cross with a half-naked ancient on it. Let me draw it:

I heard tales about places like this. It is where the Ancient ones talk to their boss in the sky!

Tesla wanted to go into the spire to get a good view of the surroundings, which I thought weas a great idea! It would really help us find the safest paths through the Zone. The others joined her except Finn. Bolt tried to join them also but didn't manage to climb the rubble. So he started to gather scraps around here. He found some weird yellow metal dish and some mechanic that could move. So nothing really interesting.

It was a few minutes later that I found a huge notebook! It had a drawing of the half-naked man etched on the outside. Was he the boss in the sky? But why on a cross then? It didn't make sense at all. On the inside there were letters I recognized, but the words didn't make sense. Let me show you what it started with: "In principio creavit Deus caelum et terram". Makes no sense, right? Lets bring it to the vault, maybe others can use it.

After half an hour the others finally came down. Tesla explained a bit about what she saw in the surrounding sectors. I-17 had a another big building with a cross on it. I-18 had an open area with a fence around it. In the middle there was a structure from metal tubes connected with chains and ladders. I-16 had a lot of huge bushes with some paths in between, but it was hard to see if that area was safe. We decided to go to I-17 in the North!

Inside it was crazy! There were skeletons everywhere! A lot of rooms, and in them beds with more skeletons! Skeletons in the hallways, everywhere! When investigating them it was quickly clear they were from ancients. Even very small ones, like not much longer then my leg! What happened here?

We continued looking around until we say this metal door which was slightly ajar. It had this weird symbol on it:

There was a terrible smell coming from the room and there were some barrels that were leaking a black-green liquid on the floor. On a metal standard there was some weird yellow suit. This place smelled and looked Rot-contaminated!

Against my warnings Rianna and Bolt entered and quickly took the yellow suit. They came out coughing, the air in there hurt them! But Bolt was thinking that the suit could protect you against the Rot and had no regrets.

This building had 5 floors and since it was starting to get dark outside we looked for a place to spend the night. We found a room on the 4th floor which was easy to guard. We agreed on a watch order:

• Tesla
• Bolt
• Rianna
• Flux (and Finn)
• Lincoln
• Garrett
• Me!

I'm going to bed soon now. Let's hope we find Ruby and the others quickly and alive. Goodnight sweet Notebook!
