Character description

Bazkar is a incredibly muscular dwarf. His most notable features must be his tall, bright orange crest of hair and massive matching well-kept beard. His bronzed skin is riddled with scars, varying in size and age. Numeroues tattoos cover the upper part of his body, including his face. These tattoos often glow ominously during battle.

He dresses only in a loincloth, judging that more clothes would get in the way during his berserking rages. His massive runed axe and a small belt pouch filled with a few coins and his chewing tobacco are all the worldy possessions he deems useful of carrying around.

Background story

Bazkar was born in one of the most well respected families within the dwarven realm of Forge, the Anvilmar family. As the Dwarven King's court blacksmiths, they were held in high esteem by the entire community. His youth was relatively easy and peaceful. The occasional raid by the Lich King however, made sure his family had enough work. His father, Ovar, quickly recognised Bazkar's born talent for the forge and taught him everything there was to know about making armor, weapons and other iron and steel utilities. He learned fast and eagerly.

Bazkar's love for the forge was matched only by his love for the alecasket. He was a regular participator in the frequent parties held at both the King's Court and the local alehouses. During one particular heavy night of drinking, he was seduced by a strange veiled woman he had not seen earlier in the pub. Although his mind and vision were both mostly clouded up already, he managed to follow this strange woman to her home and into her bed. The following morning, he woke up alone in an empty house unknown to him. He almost dismissed the entire adventure as a bad dream, until he found a small earring in the bed next to him. He snickered like a young boy who had just performed some tomfoolery while pocketing the earring and heading home.

He had almost forgot about the incident until a few days later, his friend Farak, son to the jewelcrafter, told him proudly that his dad had received an order from the King. The had apparently recently lost one of her earrings and the king wanted the replacements to be even more beautiful than the old pair. Bazkar's mind instantly flashed back to that faithful night and he had difficulty not showing his surprise on his face.
Bazkar's suspicion of the strange woman from the pub-night turned into sheer terror a few months later. The Dwarven King and Queen publicly and proudly announced they were expecting a male heir to the throne having had 5 daughters previously. During the announcement, the Queen found Bazkar in the crowd and gave him a very meaningful 'look'. He immediately realized the implications of that look and all the color instantly drained from his face. His hopes that everything would solve itself finally completely vanished, when months later, a dwarven prince was born.
Bazkar could not tell anyone of his secret without disgracing his entire family, so he spend the many moments hammering away feverously onto his father's anvil, trying to beat the memories out of his mind.

The years passed and the prince slowly grew up. As the prince reached adolesence, he also started to visit parties and pubs. Then one night, it happened. Bazkar had just lost a heavy and lengthy drinking bet with his friends, when the prince entered the bar and accidentally bumped into Bazkar. The prince immediately apologied in very royal way for his misttake. Already moody from losing the bet, Bazkar's temper reached boiling point when he saw who had bumped into him. 'I don't need to stinking apology from my own bastardly son.' he snarled at the prince. The noise in the bar fortunately prevented anyone else from overhearing this, but the prince heard it all too clear and his eyes widened before he turned and left the pub in shock.

Realising what he had done and unable to live with this disgrace for any longer, Bazkar decided to join the ranks of the dwarven cult of Trollslayers. This way he could die honorful in battle, taking his secret with him to his grave. Again many years passed. Due to his inherent skill with weapons, developed over many years as a blacksmith's son and his almost legendary toughness, he has survived countless battles and slain many foes. He even managed to acquire a few friends along the way. He met a small halfling riding on a dog who was beset by trolls. He managed to deal with the trolls but during the victory drink afterwards, the halfling managed to beat him in a armwrestling match and by doing so earned the respect and friendship of the dwarf. His other 'friends' include a small gnome who seems intent on following him around wherever he goes. He tolerates the gnome since he once saved his life by killing an orc who was about to backstab him, a particularly dishonorable death, by casting some sort of spell on it. Lastly, a strange female bard pops up every now and then to write heroic tales and songs aobut him. She has something intriguing that Bazkar can't yet put a finger on, but as long as she doens't ask Bazkar about his past, he won't poke into hers.
