14 - Frostbite regained his lost skill!

Back to Loomlurch for ours
Somehow Clapperclaw manages to land really close to Downfall where we tie up the balloon to the jetty. The melancholic fluteplay of Octavian can be heard from between the giant mushrooms. We tell Clapperclaw to be on standby as we'd like to return at the earliest possible opportunity. Now to head back to the rowing boats and make our way to the middle of the lake again, to Bavlornas house on stilts, still shrouded in the thick fog.
Maeve asks about a plan, but Frostbite wants to go in simple. Hand over the painting and get his lost thing in return. We climb the stairs and via the trapdoor enter the house. Zephyr notices the big lily pad is missing. And we hear and see nobody. We continue up the stairs. Frostbite finds a nice spot to hang the portrait and in turn does so. Let's hope it's to Bavlornas liking. We continue through more rooms and hallways in search of her, but all we initially find is some kind of brewery room. I can't let this pass of course, so I taste the nice smelling contents of the buckets there. Yummy! I quickly replace the contents of my waterskin with the contents of these buckets. Zephyr wonders if this has any kind of special side effect, so I turn make my head look twice as large. But they seems to see through it :).
Finally we end up in the kitchen where Bloodietoes the cook, an ugly female garden gnome in iron boots, is chasing vultures with her cleaver. I help out catching one and she makes quick work of it, finally depositing it in a room adjacent to the kitchen where we can feel the cold coming from the doorway. Zephyr wants to see inside this cold storage and finds a lot of meat and some kind of very cold crate stored there. Meanwhile Bloodietoes tells us that Bavlorna is visiting someone. We can wait in the study until she returns.
A couple of us retreat to the study where Maeve starts playing her recently acquired bagpipes. From the kitchen we hear a male voice humming along. When we call out, asking who that is, there's no response. Apart from the cook stating there's no one there. I ask Maeve to play on, so I can stealthily investigate. To the "Mission Impossible" tune coming from the bagpipes I sneak into the kitchen. The cook opens one of the doors leading out to a balcony where she yells at on of the cages, throws something towards it and the humming stops. perhaps it was one of the satyr's I saw which we're locked in those cages on the various balconies.
Finally Bavlorna returns home and offers us something to drink and eat. Frostbit immediately kicks of the conversation requesting his lost skill in exchange for the painting we brought along. Bavlorna wonders how granny liked it when we took it. Based on our vague responses she concludes that she wasn't happy with us stealing it, which in turn satisfies Bavlorna. Meanwhile Bloodietoes comes in bringing some of us, who wanted some food, well filled plates with meat roast and shrooms, and big mugs of the yummy alcoholic beverage to wash it all down. Bavlorna goes up the stairs, where Zephyr and Ashira had been investigating earlier today, and after a while returns carrying a pipe. Frostbite takes quite a while to get grips with the situation, but eventually decides to smoke the pipe. He clearly doesn't regret this decision we can conclude from the somehow happy smirk on his face. Now that we're done here, it is time to go though, but Frostbite lost track of Star. We eventually find her in the cold storage gnawing on some meat. Frostbite takes her along, but not before he heard a heartbeat like sound coming from the chest in the cold storage room.
We take the boat back to shore where I propose to spend the night in the palace. Some others want to go right away, but Clapperclaw explains he doesn't have enough dry wood to fuel the hot-air balloon. So they pick up on my idea and we have a good nights rest. Although Frostbite spends almost the entire night awake, lovingly crafting a wooden flute with his newly regained skill. The next morning some take apart some furniture from the palace and hastily make way to Clapperclaw to get going. Just in time before some angry Bullywug mob catches up with us we fly the balloon away carried by the wind. The wind is in our favor yet again and brings us back to Tither where we crash-land into an open spot in the forest. Some of us again get that feeling our missing thing is here somewhere!
Zephyr and Ashira play around with a ring of mushrooms which somehow manage to call them names. I call out to them that we need to get going. With my map of Tither and my navigation skills we depart and after a few hours walk we see Loomlurch appearing between the trees. I go to the market again to check with the goblins if granny is in. But initially all they do is sell us more of the insect candy. Not that I mind of course. We pay with two berries Ashira conjured up earlier, which Chucklehead pops in his candy apple head as if they are his eyes. When we enquire about granny, he explains that's she's not too happy, but he can indeed arrange for us to meet her.
He guides us to the parlor and sits us down at the table. Zephyr wants to sneak inside, but we tell him no, to avoid any ruckus which might frustrate granny even further. The door opens and an old lady with a slowly revolving key in her back steps outside. "Have a seat my kids, let's have some tea!"
