And we found the bell!
Zephyr asked Hurley where the prison was. I still don’t know why we’re bothering with Glister, but I suppose that’s a question for another time. We take stairs up to a corridor. On the left we see a glimpse of a big room with lightning. I didn’t look long.
On the right we found a heavy door flanked by two suits of armor. Goblin-sized. Goblin-shaped. Too still. Dhanell didn’t trust it, so he sent his ghost-hand to lift one of the helmets. There was a goblin skull inside. So—guards, yes. Just not the kind that’ll report anything.
Then a huge skeleton face appeared in the door and told us to leave. Of course. Why wouldn’t a door scream at us?
Zephyr thought maybe his scepter—which he insists is a key—might help. I told him to stick it in the skull’s mouth. He actually did it. I would’ve laughed, if I could. The result was predictable. But then he knocked with the scepter, and the door just... opened. I don’t understand this place. I'm not sure I want to.
Inside were four prison cells—three already open. One closed. One lever. We pulled it, and found Glister. Gleam cried out. Reunion achieved. Brolin found wine and quickly took care of what was clearly the real priority for him.
Dhanell asked what we get for rescuing her. Glister offered some information. Something about Endelyn hiding a bell. And maybe our lost things are near it? Also, apparently Endelyn lost a key.
Glister didn’t want to stay. Said she and Gleam would go to the feybeacons—those towers near the lake-portal. Dhanell wanted them to cause an eclipse during Hurley’s next play. If it ruins Endelyn’s plans, then it’s worth it. We let them go.

Brolin and Zephyr went toward the lightning room. Probably the orrery. I had something else in mind.
I wanted to find the bell. So I went up another staircase, quietly. Frostbite followed behind me. At the end of the hall, I saw her.
Endelyn.
I froze. She stared. I stammered something about looking for her. It wasn’t a lie. She told me to go downstairs. I didn’t run. I moved slow—if the others wanted to run, I wanted to give them time. They didn’t. We followed her.
She took us into a room and told us to sit. I didn’t like that.
First, she wanted her scepter back. Then she scolded us for destroying “her” shadows and freeing the prisoner. Then came the scissors.
She wanted our shadows.
Mine shivered. It knows. I won’t let her take it.
No one liked that plan. We asked for something else.
She offered a new deal. Bring her cat—Gloam, orange with stripes—back from Bavlorna. I guess hags really do love their pets.
If we wanted our lost things, we’d also need to work with her “ally” Skillah and take out Kelek’s crew. More tasks, more deals, more webs.
Before we left, she said we could also give her a unicorn horn instead of the cat... of course, like that would happen.
We left. Fast. She never asked about Golmo. Good.
I wanted to bring him back to get my gem, but the others wanted to go to the palace. Something about the bell helping us get there. Golmo heard us, told us he could walk. I didn’t get my gem. It’s fine. It’s just a gem. I’ll find another.
We passed the theater. Charmay was on stage. Gleam and Glister were at the lights. Then the lights came down—all of them. The twins disappeared. Endelyn didn’t look pleased. For once, that pleased me.
I went down the tunnel and found the twins. I asked if Golmo could go with them. They agreed.
Then two goblins arrived. I tried to steer them away. Maeve figured it out—they were the parents of the kite girl. We led them through too. Then sealed the tunnel.
Back upstairs, Dhanell looked through the library. There was supposed to be an invisible note. He could see it now. We couldn’t. He found it, but it's was Elven. He needed Maeve’s help. When he finally read it... it was a secret we already knew. Skabatha forgets the first person she sees after sleeping. Old news.
We went further up, looking for the bell.
I checked two rooms. No bell. The third was locked. I tried to pick it. Magic pushed me back—nearly off the balcony. Frostbite grabbed me. I owe him another berry.
We regrouped. Zephyr had found a secret space in the ceiling. The bell was there.
We all had to focus. Think of where we wanted to go. Zephyr rang the bell.
It echoed through the tower.
Then we saw them. In the distance. Huge birds—Brolin confirmed it with his spyglass.
And then…
The double doors opened.
Endelyn?
