1. Orun II (Nafay)

Played on September 25th, 2022

Summary

In Wahib's cafe we run into a group impersonating us, lead by a woman named Remora. We prove to Adzem we are the actual crew of the SA2. He wants to meet up in a safe place so we head to our ship to talk business. We agree that we'll try to help him recover the Orun II which is heading for an astroid field for 10K Birr. He'll join us on our mission.
We plot a course to the Orun II and two days later we find it floating around nearing the astroid field. Most systems in the ship seemd turned of but we suddenly see a signal light. We dock near the back of the ship where we find a corpse in the airlock.

As we walk through Coriolis, Zayd receives a message on his tabula. We decide it's time for some business again to pay of our debt, so we quickly head over to Wahib's Cantina. The sliding doors open up revealing the beaded curtain. Various smells waft from the inside. As we enter, we see four tables where one draws the most attention. A group of people is explaining that they are the crew of the Sanie Almal 2. As we can't imagine two ships havinf the same name being docked at the same spacestation we suspect they're a group of imposters, trying to get away with our business. We try to clarify the situation but they start threatening us. As we present the spaceship pink slip to the person, who laters turns out to be Adzem, they back down however and quickly leave the cantina, quickly followed by Callum and Maruf who try to figure out what they were after.

Adzem tells us he'd rather not talk business here anymore and we invite him to our ship. We make ourselves comfortable in the suite with some tea and lokum. He initially talks about why a group would be impersonating us, but I tell him that'll be dealty with. So he continues to explain he represent a company Melem Gemsura who own a number of ice hauling freighters. A few days ago they lost contact with one of their freighters, the Orun II, which is now on a collision course with an astroid field. After some negotiations we agree on a 10.000 Birr fee to recover it, but he will join on this mission.
While he gathers his belongings for the travel, Callum and Maruf return. They overheard the group talking to their leader Remore about what to do know. But right after they vanished into an alleyway. Morgiana does some research into the Orun II while I prepare the suite for a guest. Callum than plots a course with the help of Morgiana and as Adzem has just returned, we're now ready to be on our way.

After about a half day travel we hear a sudden crash from the chapel. Zayd is the first to arrive and sees that the Icon statues have fallen from their niches. This is not a good sign at the start of a mission, but hopefully all the effort Zayd and Morgiana put into their sacrifices in an attempt to please the icons will be enough.
Meanwhile I check in with Adzem, explaining that we've got everything under control. As I enter the suite he quickly puts away a book he was reading.

The next day during lunch, Morgiana talks to Adzem about ice haulers to learn more about Orun II which might be of use to us. Meanwhile I visit the suite to "clean up", looking for the book. I find it lying around and as I acceidentally drop it on the floor it falls open at a page marked with a dog-ear. I quickly scan the story which is called the "Princess of Kaa", written by Zurdu Dol-Murir. I quickly put the book back where I found it and leave the suite. After lunch I discuss this story with the group if anyone has ever heard of it. Zayd can recall the story somewhat and explains it's myth about a king who lost his daughter. In his grief the city they lived in, Kaa, was overrun by the jungle of the planet Kua, never to be heard from again. Morgiana explains that archeologists have been discussing the existence of this city.

By the end of the second day we see the first glimpse of the Orun II. No light is seen anywhere, so Maruf sets a course to the front airlock. Unfortunately the airlock seems to be shutdown as there's no guiding light to be seen. On the other side of the ship it's the same deal so he makes way for the back of the ship. Meanwhile he's deftly avoiding all the astroids which are flying around here on the outskirts of the field. Judging from the size of these astroids we don't have much longer than about two hours to get our job done.
Flying otwards the back we see a few burst of a signal light. But it's gone as fast as it appeared. We approach the back dock which seems to still be enabled and with some impressive manouvers Maruf docks our ship. Morgiana and Neomi meanwhile put on their exo outfits to investigate what is behind the airlock doors. The first thing they notice as they enter is a liveless body of the ships engineer Kakinwene. Morgiana takes her tabula to be investiagted and later hands it to Maruf. Luckilly the air is beartable in the Orun II so we all can join them in their search. I investigate the body and learn that it was killed using a mercurium sword. Adzem and Zayd now also join us in our investigation of the freighter.
