Terrible service
I was awoken by a terrible noisy alarm and a electronic female voice telling me something was wrong with the ship and
everyone was being woken up from their cryosleep. Feeling a bit like the morning after a pokergame with just one
too many cheap whiskeys, I groggily exited my cryo-pod and donned the only available garment, a black robe.
The robe seemed to have some sort of insulation since it did a satisfying job of getting my body temperature up to a normal level
again.
After some useless fiddling around with the controls to open my room, I got some help from a burly passenger named Knut.
We made our way towards the so-called warming up room and in there encountered some of the other passengers, some of which
were more interesting and/or visiually appealing than others, who were just plain irritable.
The spices and drinks presented in the warming up room were bland and tasteless. More importantly, there wasn't any crewmember
to be found anywhere. Or anyone else that knew what was going on for that matter. I was started to voice my complaints about the terrible service on board, but others
didn't seem to care or notice.
As I am accustomed of doing during my pokergames, I started making a mental passport of all my fellow passengers that were slowly gathering. They were:
- Knut - A large bulky man who does not seem to have gotten the best deal in the brains department. He could be useful however (he helped me open the door op my cryo-chamber), so let's stick to his good side.
- Jasmin - Slender beautiful woman who must have gotten Knut's spare brain capacity. She's smart, but not much of a threat to me since she seems a bit bashful.
- Manon - Some sort of female reporter. A bit stuck up as far as I can tell, I don't like her. She might become a nuisance, sticking her pretty nose in business it doesn't belong.
- Gerd - Belgian politician. No clue what his motives are so far. Let's observe him a bit.
- Bennet - Young, white and nerdy. If I ignore him I think he will ignore me too since there are beautiful females present to drool upon.
- Joris - Old and senile. He is basically just annoying, but other than that not any risk.
- Abigail - Weird unstable female. Tendency to freak out.
Finally, some bloke in a dark blue robe showed up who I thought must be part of the crew, since all passengers were all wearing black.
I talked to the guy who was named Aaron, but he told me he was the CEO of Symtech, some corporation that helped organize the trip or built the ship or whatever and he was very evasive.
His bluff was weak and I need to keep an eye on him.
After sufficiently warming up, I made my way towards the locker-room where our personal belongings were stashed. For some unfathomable reason, the system
for gathering your belongings was designed in a way that only one person at a time could get their stuff. The service wasn't improving, that's for sure. After some waiting
I got all of my effects, but I left all but a few of my gold nuggets behind for now. A bit after me, the blue-robed guy accessed his locker and I noticed that he had a safe inside it. I tried to check
the combination to his safe, but didn't get further than right-left-left-right. Suddenly all the lights flared up.
