DOA + 0 - Day Of Awakening

Waking up

Ugh, our cryo drug never decently solved the dry mouth issue after lenghty periods of cryo-stasis.
There's this annoying buzzing sound ringing in my head, which slowly turns into the voice and image of some woman telling us everybody's being awakened from their cryo sleep as we speak. There seem to be some minor issues though.
I quickly grab the bathrobe, which is the only thing I can find in this tight space and sit down beside the door waiting for someone to explain what's next.

After a while the big wheel in the middle of the door starts turning until I hear a faint click and a hissing sound. Then the door slowly swings open to reveal the face of the woman I've met in the bus "earlier on". She's looking for her relatives and direct me to the warming up room where there's some food waiting. Good idea to be honest. In the hallway en other room I encounter a couple of new and some familiar faces. Luckily there's also a mirror which allows me to check on my hair, which is feeling awkwardly strawy after the journey. This also allows me to observe the others in the room.
An elderly man is eating too, albeit a bit clumsy. And a younger men is peeking at me constantly while drawing in his plate of jello.
After I'm done eating I leave the room to check out what all the fuzz is about with regards to some locker room. I hope that's where they're keeping our personal belongings. When I pass the plate the younger guy (turns out his name is Bennet I learned later on) left behind, it looks like he has drawn me as some kind of superheroine. Freaky fellow! I quickly erase the drawing and continue into the hallway. The elderly man accompanies me. Turns out he doesn't seem to see well without his glasses. Didn't know people still used those things. My father once showed me some historical medical encyclodpia on paper where they explained what purpose glasses served.
I expect to find some kind of device, to help the man, in the medical bay, so we go there first. We make a little small talk and he introduces himself as Joris. He seems friendly enough luckily. I also grab some first aid kit and stuff the box with some more medical supplies. It seems our ship isn't if tip-top condition anymore so I thought it'd be for the best to prepare for the worst.

The locker room

When we're done here we join most of the others who have gathered in the locker room. There's some fuss about who get's to collect the gear first as the system only allows single access at a time. I allow Joris to stand in front of me and I quietly await my turn.
