Session 9 (Lilsy)

Played on February 18, 2007
I'm swamped with Orc!

"Let me pull open the door and hide behind me it, then you step in and..."

"Wait! I know this spell, if I just..."

"Spells? A great idea, I have this helping hand spell. Maybe it can open the door for us!"

"No, no, no. This open spell will work perfectly!"

"Oh, this helping hands just finds people for you. Hmmm... maybe it can find wizards!"

"Maybe we can just fireball the door!"

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! For Brandobaris's sake, let's get moving already!"

With a loud crash, I swing open the door and charge ahead into the store room. Wizards! They're all alike! Just in time I remember myself enough to keep a little quiet and be on the lookout for the wizard and the terrible gooey monster. I hate the thing as it hit me quite bad last time, but we can't go standing around all day discussing if we need a spell to open the door! Sheesh!

Swoosh! Woah, I just evaded. "Over here guys!" Bloody gooey monsters! Bloody wizards! Daggers at the ready, I lash out the monster, but instead of dying a swift horrible death, it just splits up into three gooey monsters. Uh oh, now what have you gotten yourself into, Lilsy. The three descend on me like they're pissed off about something and everything goes black.

"Now try to stay out of trouble this time."

My hero, B\'redaru, is standing next to me and I feel in all-fighting condition again, again! " I'll stay back here and try to find some soup. " I quickly spin my daggers on my palm to check their balance. Damn! My left one is all messed up. Well, no problem. I quickly get one from another hiding spot and start attacking the gooey monsters again. With B\'redaru keeping the gooey things busy, we can keep attacking them. Apparently, if they get small enough they are quite harmless, so we keep splitting them with every hit.

Apparently, the gooey monster hadn't kidnapped the wizard. That means he's probably nowhere to be found around here. We head back up and for some reason people want to check out the third tower. Luckily, from some distance it is quite obvious that the third tower is completely submerged, so we don't have to waste any extra time there. We all decide to head back to Flann's crossing. The way back is quite uneventful. Boring!

Flann's crossing

We arrived in Flann's crossing just after noon. Alora came to greet us with open arms and she was very interested in our adventurers. All the others were extremely curt with her, but I chatted with her heartily. We immediately moved to the magistrate's office to discuss our findings. There we meet the ever-courteous Frolm. Frolm went into the magistrate's office to tell the magistrate of our arrival. Frolm, frolm, frolm, frolm, FROLM! I love that name! Frolm came back and said the magistrate is in a meeting but that he'll make time for us immediately. "Frolm," I gibber while walking into the magistrate's office.

The magistrate was apparently meeting with an attractive young lady, who he introduces as Ivay. Ivay shook hands and quickly left. The magistrate's eyes seemed to be darting after her. We told the magistrate the entire story and he told us that Tajule was on her way to Wyrmkeep to find a replacement-Carolus to live in the swamp. Thror kept saying Carolus is dead even though we don't know that all. I wonder how he knows? Hmmmmmm.. Also, he tries to push Surtur as replacement-Carolus. The plot thickens! I wish I knew where it was headed though. I guess Surtur wouldn't mind some peace and quiet in which he can cut himself up all by himself. Anyhow, the magistrate regretted to tell us that the traders probably wouldn't give a reward because Carolus hadn't been found. He didn't really seem to believe we killed 200 orcs though. It's true though; Urdos counted them! 198 to be exact!

The magistrate told us to come back in an hour for our reward so we went to the inn and celebrated our victories. I told everyone about our great exploits and did some general partying around. Thror told everyone that Carolus is dead and that Surtur is the new wizard. Very suspicious! I didn't let it get to me though and had a great time.

The hour passed quickly and we returned to the magistrate. He told us that he couldn't get a reward from the traders, so it wasn't as much as he hoped. B'redaru got very upset about this and said he didn't like that the magistrate didn't live up to his agreement. Meanwhile I unlocked the chest which contained our reward. To me, it seemed to contain quite a nice value, so I told the magistrate I was happy with the reward. Then, after discussing with the magistrate over the reward for nearly 15 minutes, B'redaru gave his part of the reward to the magistrate! Some people!

The night I spent out partying in the inn. Surtur seemed to have some discussion with the traders and with this lady called Ivay. B'redaru I didn't really see. He came in quite late.

Next morning was a great morning! During breakfast Frolm came in and told us the magistrate has some news for us. "Good morning, Frolm!" Ofcourse, we couldn't wait to hear the news, so we got up and quickly went to the magistrate. "Lead the way, Frolm!" There Frolm showed us into the magistrate's office where the magistrate was sitting together with a person clad completely in white with a pointy hat. Could this be Carolus? He surely must be a wizard!

The wizard turned out to be Fidar from Wyrmkeep. He has come to replace Carolus in the swamp and will be teaching Tajule. He had some grim news and told it very slowly. After a gruelling 15 minutes, he had told his story. Apparently, not only Carolus had disappeared, but also the Grand Artificer Bixia has disappeared from Tinkercrag and the High Priestess of Olidammara (I think?) are nowhere to be found. This can't be a coincidence! How exciting! B'redaru really wants to go to Tinkercrag but we convince him to go to Ironsmiterville first, because Thror is very worried about his parents. Surtur sees this as an excuse to start a discussion about spells again. Sheesh!
