Color me purple
Yay! The discussion about our next plans did not last too long this time! We
are going to Surtur and Thror's hometown, Bel'Dore. B'redaru volunteered to
arrange a cart and Surtur will arrange some horses for us. B'redaru went off to
get a cart and Surtur started mumbling to himself about spells again. We are
about to go off on adventure again! Just minutes before we will go to Bel'Dore
and see Surtur's and Thror's homes! It would be even better if it wouldn't mean
going back north, but I guess it will still be quite a distance from home
anyhow.
B'redaru returns with a huge cart loaded with all kinds of junk. Shiny junk, I
must admit, but junk nonetheless. Oh well, I don't take much space and maybe I
can find a cool use for the junk along the trip. Okay, off to adventure! Oh
wait, Surtur says he can only make horses tomorrow. Make horses? Tomorrow?!?!?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! Spending a whole day in this town again! Let's see if I can
break into something.
After a day of being partially bored out of my skull (the break-in provided
some diversion), we finally woke up to our first travelling day. Surtur got
ready for making our mounts and asked, "What colour do you want the horses to
be?" COOL! "Purple!" Surtur seemed somewhat surprised. "Erm, yes, you know
what? I'll make white horses and you paint them purple." Off I went to find
purple horse paint. I quickly got some .I got totally ripped off for the paint
though, but I stole a paintbrush to compensate. Maybe I'll steal something else
if I ever, Brandobaris forbid, come back here. So, I spent some time painting
the newly made horses purple. Oddly enough, the horses seemed to quite like it.
But then again, they were conjured out of thin air a few minutes ago, so I
guess nothing is really strange to them. My travel companions seemed to think
the horses looked real cool too.
So we were on the road, travelling fashionably along with our purple horses.
Urdos seemed to be doing really well at guiding the horses. He is somehow
convinced that he can talk to them, but I guess having a wolf tail us keeps
them moving in the right direction fast enough. Yay! On the road again!
Hmmm.. still on the road. Look! A swamp. .. for the coming hundred miles ..
What to do? What to do? I know! Let's paint the cart purple. Slopping paint
liberally, I spend the day painting the cart nice and purple. We stop at the
roadside at night and camp. B'redaru seems obsessed with attaching junk to the
cart. The next day (after I paint some racing stripes on the horses) we come
past a ravaged caravan. There are some humand and orc skeletons there. Seems
like orcs ambushed some poor traders here. Exciting! We continue on for some
miles and see a dust cloud in the distance. As they come closer they turn out
to be orcs! Urdos fires a warning shot at them and Surtur fires a
not-so-warning fireball at them, but most of them seem to be capable of moving.
out of the way. They scatter and run off. Urdos sets pursuit with cart and all
but the horses quickly panic and it becomes a wild stampede. He manages to lose
the reins as well. I get ready to jump on the horses to calm them down, but
then they disappear into thin air. The cart crashes and looks quite damaged.
B'redaru grumbles to himself that he will probably be able to fix it with the
help of Yisha. Yay, Yisha! Urdos and I are bored so we try to follow the orcs.
Unfortunately they turn out to be very get out long distance running so they
outrun us eventually and we head back to camp. At sundown, we camped at the
roadside again. I took first watch and thought of a way to surprise B'redaru! I
neatly painted his armor purple and spelled out the name Yisha on the back. I
guess he'll like that!
The next morning, B'redaru doesn't mention his new armour's colour at all!
Other than that, the day is a blur to me. After some days we get to a town and
we spend the night there, but nothing really special happens. From there on,
the road starts to rise as we approach Bel'dore. On the road we see something
very strange! From some distance we see huge wolves on the mountain.
Apparently, they are winter wolves. As we approach them, Urdos tries talking to
them and the respond in common! After a bitter fight, we get the best of them. They say, "We will let you pass, but Bel'dore is ours!". Mysterious!
