2. Spirits (Ulf)

Played on December 10th, 2017
In-game: Day 2

The Second Floor

Yes, the note we found. It was a little vague, but we got the idea that the people in this house are not up to much good. Sacrifices on altars, that kind of stuff. Also Lowna found a lot of books about demonic rituals, mostly fake according to her. We more and more got the idea that those living here are evil. Because of this we agreed it was fine to take useful stuff we found. Dunston took 3 scrolls and I think Lowna took some empty books.
What do you say Aatu, you sense some other presence? Ah, i haven't told you yet, some human child spirit decided to posses me. Nothing to worry about, I hope... I'll come to that later in my story.
Dunston, me and Haemir continued in the next room. There we found some music intruments. Not very interesting. Before we wanted to go further upstairs we decided to get the party together again. Thorndyke was downstairs with Urgoth. He found a deck of cards and some crossbows. One of them was very big and heavy, which Haemir happily equipped. We even convinced Urgoth that we needed his help upstairs. He is a scary Orc, very scary... I think he is looking at me now, is he Aatu?

The Dusty Third Floor

On the stairways up to the third floor it became more dusty. And at the top there was a small hall. A suit of armor was standing at the back of the hall. While Urgoth complained why he was needed someone joked that the armor was animated. Urgoth decided to attack it and to everyone's surprise it suddenly started to move. It really was an animated armor! We quickly took it down.
Then Dunston opened a door and a ghost attack him screaming very loud. Everyone started to shoot at it. It managed to touch Dunston leaving a big scar. Then by the hit of a big swing of Urgoth's sword it disappeared. It seems we've killed it. Dunston asked if we could have at least an hour of rest to recover from that hit from the ghost. He didn't look very healthy, so we decided to do that. Meanwhile we looked around in the room. It was a small bedroom with a door with a window in it, and we noticed something that could be a secret door behind the mirror.

After the rest we opened the secret door. There was a stairway going to the attic. But first we wanted to check the rest of this floor. One door led to a balcony. The mist was still outside. I also checked if there was an outside entry to this basement, but nothing. Another door led to a baby room. With some druidcraft I blew aside a black curtain over the crib. In it you could see something. I remembered the letter mentioning the stilborn baby. Would it still be inside? Was it Thorn's brother? *some tears appear in Ulf's eyes*

What do you say Aatu, I was crying for a few minutes? Wait, was I? What the hell is going on with me! And yes, i'll tell you in a minute about the spirit Aatu.
So the rest of the second floor. We had a closet with a broom that started to attack Thorndyke, a bathroom, and a master bedroom. Thorndyke found some jewelry in there. Oh, and Aatu, remember the wooden box Thorndyke received and shouldn't open? Well, he opened it. In it was a hand, yes, a real human hand! It looked dead, but still intact. Maybe it was embalmed? And the bedroom also had a small balcony, we could see the other side of the house, including the garden. The mist wasn't in the garden, so that was also strange. But still no entry to the basement.

The Attic

We went upstairs to the attic, the last place where the basement could be! There were some doors, one of them was locked. Thorndyke opened it. Inside there was a children's room. In the middle were 2 skeletons of children wearing the same clothes as the 2 children outside were wearing. There was a chest filled with toys, and a dollhouse which was an exact replica of the house we were in. Thorndyke and Lowna started to investigate it further to see about any rooms we missed.

Then 2 spirits of the children appeared. They seemed nice at first. We had some discussion about why they were outside first, but they said that wasn't them. They told us about the house, and that there was a door at the attic leading to the basement, the place where the monster was! The scary, scary monster... Aatu, i'm scared... I'm not sure if I want to go there anymore... What do you say, the spirit? Oh right, it's not me that's scared, it's that damned spirit inside me!

So apparently there was a very long small spiral staircase going to the basement. The children never went there. And to protect them from it, their parents locked them in their room, leaving them to die from hunger. When we wanted to leave the room to go to the basement the spirit called Thorn jumped inside me. That's the spirit you sense Aatu. If you have any idea how to get rid of him, let me know. I hope if we solve what happened in this house, that he will find rest. I guess that's everything he wants, and maybe until then I should try to comfort him, he is just a small scared child...
When Thorndyke started to go through the chest of toys I wanted him to stop and I started crying. That's when I first found out the Thorn inside me. Luckely he stopped soon, and the rest could get out of the room without the sister possessing them. So she was left there alone...
But now, let's find that green scary monster!
