Thylea
Played on August 8th and 15th, 2010
Saturday - 8th of April - Iceland
The next morning the whole worlds seems to pass by me a lot faster then I'm used too. The native folks now seem more responsive though then how I experienced them yesterday. Very weird.
We decide to go back to the crevice filled with lava as we still need to get across to get to the museum. To get across to the other side, Mike ponders up an ingenious plan to redirect a small river to cool down and solidify the lava stream so we can climb to the other side. I start building a dam while Mike tactically places his explosives. A very big explosion and a lot of steam later and we got a nice blocked path which we can use to get across.
Once passed the lava it's an easy way up to the museum. Inside Thomas notices footsteps in the dust. We start following them to find out what people have been up to recently in this museum. They lead us to a showcase where there's a clear empty spot where the ring once was which Maureen told us about. We also see a large map of Greenland hanging on the wall. From it, we learn that Greenland is sometimes called Thylea, which we saw in the tattoo's.
Another item which draws Roger and Thomas. attention is a very old book called "Edda". This book, which is slightly different from regular print, contains explanations about the various items we've encountered. It explains what certain combinations of items can achieve. This way we can conclude that the Was and ring have been brought together as that creates a drowsy state which seems to be going on with all those Icelandic people.
Based on the Thylea clue we decide to go back to the airport. There we find an airplane. The owner of the plane and its pilot are in the same mental state as all the other people here so they don't mind it much that we lend their plane. We all gather our stuff and fly of to Greenland.
Once we get there, Roger shows his infamous landing skills again and parks the plane into a snowy mount. Frank thinks it would be a good idea to use the magic powers of Herne's mask to find what we're looking for and charges out of the plane, where I tackle him and remove the mask again. We gather all our supplies on improvised sleds and start walking, eventually reaching bear-tracks. We decide to follow these and eventually we reach their cave. A large bear walks out of the cave and stands up tall to threaten us.
Somehow the bear manages to strike a nerve with me and I run of screaming like a little girl. Meanwhile the others deal with the bear and it's companion who jumps into the fray some moments later.
When the rest of the group is done dealing with the bears they come to find me. We investigate the bear cave and Frank makes friends with the bear cubs who are hiding there. They start following him around everywhere he goes.
As there's nothing more for us to find here, we start moving again. Then all of a sudden we see an object moving along the horizon. Thomas uses his FBI badge to reflect the sun towards the object. This seems to work as it changes direction and starts moving towards us. When it gets closer it turns out to be a dogsled with an Inuit steering it.
When he reaches us he explains his name is Lemuel and he lives in a village not to far from here by dogsled. He offers to help us and leaves again for the village to get more sleds to carry us and our supplies. A few hours later he's back with his friends and we climb onto the sleds and travel back to their village.
Once there we get a very warm welcome from all the villagers. We're invited into the largest igloo which is owned by the village elder. His daughter feeds us and gets us stuff to drink. Then we're all offered a sleeping spot with various Inuit. We experience a rather strange phenomenon where we get to sleep with the wives and the men sleep on the floor. I don't mind too much as I can really appreciate the rest and warmth after such a harsh day travelling across those icy barrens.
Sunday - 9th of April - an Inuit village
The next day as we wake up, there's two dogsleds waiting for us, filled with supplies. The village elder tells us about a prophecy in which we star. It turns out we're actually supposed to be here. Weird experience of course but we'd better make that prophecy happen then...
