Day 4
So I find the graves right where the Larmon said they would be. IAs I'm about to investigate I see figures appearing on the horizon to the west. I suspect these might be the other Harpers as it's a group of four as Larmon told me.
I follow them into the hills, their travels leading up to a tower. They magically change one of the bushes to hide behind it. I wonder what the people, living in the tower, will think about the bush, which has been there for quite a while now all of s sudden being twice as big.
I sneak upto the group and listen in on their conversation. I hear them talking about the vultures which have appared from the top of the tower and are now circling the area seeminglyu searchuing for something. Apperntly they've been attacked by the exact same vultures down the road.
I think it's time to introduce myself so I carefully emerge from my hiding place and do the secret Harper handshake. I tell them who I am and that I'm in on this, just like them.
Meanwhile the vultures have landed at the top of the tower again. About ten minutes later a small door opens in the gate. Four people merge from the doorway lead by a fifth. They walk straight towards the bush we're hiding in.
From what I've heard from the others I'm absolutely sure these must be the bad guys and to make sure we'll have the upper hand in battle I take first strike. I pull out my shortbow, aim and shoot the fifth, who looks like the leader. She's pretty hurt but not dead yet. She scream orders to the other four who now start charging towards us. Meanwhile she's waving her hands, mumbling something.
Now vultures again appear from the top of the tower which come swooping down towards us. I notice Varaf behind me casting. A few seconds and a big BOOOOM later, and the group of four is lying there, dead.
Unfortunately, another group of six appears from the doorway. Followed by two more vultures from the base of the tower. Rays of frost are flying through the air. Daggers are throwm and the vultures swoop back and forth, clawing and biting at us.
Finally I mage to bring down the leader with my short sword, her dying words being "Thrul will avenge me!".
Then another beast appears from the base of the tower. I think this is some kind of hippogryph ridden by a very big fellow. Seeing we're pretty much outnumberd and we wouldn;t stand a chance, we lay down our arms.
"Who are you to attack our holy tower!?"
Rodan introduces himself and explains why we'er here, based on the map they found in the boot of on e of the vulture-riders. Meanwhile Varaf is stabilizing Iymril, who was pretty hurt in combat. We're searched for hidden weapons and than taken into the tower where we're locked into a room. There's still no sign of Naeris who ran of during the combat. But not much later he joins us in this cell.
I listen at the door if there's guards posted outside. I hear two of them discussing the leader I killed. As it turns out she's called Savra, and she might not be as dead as I thought she was. There's also wondering if we're part of a group called "Black Earth". "Leave if up to Thrul to extract that info from them" is the last thing I hear them saying to eachother.
As there's no way to escape via the door I lockpick the windowblinds to open up to a wonderful view of the valley hundred meters beneath the base of the tower. As I hear them unlocking the door I quickly close the blinds again, slipping the lock into my pocket.
The big guy enters our room and takes Naeris with him. When he joins us again, he tells us the boss, Thrul, interrogated him, if we're part of the Black Earth. Somehow Naeris managed to convince him otherwise. All of a sudden we're treated as guests instead of prisoners, apart from still being locked up that is.
