Day 22
So there we were, in the room with the 2 sarcophagus. There was a lot of dust on the ground, and it was clear that nobody had entered this room for hundreds of years. Varaf wanted to take a rest, but i was more interested in the sarcophagus. Who were these dwarves that were buried here. From the runes and symbols on the sarcophagus I found out one was probably female and the other male. Maybe it was a forgotten king and queen. Who knows what treasures were buried with them.
Curious as I was, I decided to open one of them to see what was inside. In the meanwhile Niamh left the room to scout the hallway. I tried to open the one of the male, but failed. The stone on top didn't want to move. Next I tried the other and that went off after I put all my weight into it. I could just in time prevent it from dropping on the ground. In there was a skeleton of a dwarf. It noticed her boots were still shining, and a wooden bow that was still intact. On her face there was a golden mask full with gems. After i asked Arisys to check for traps i used my Spectral hand to take the boots out. No trap! Next I took the Bow, and since Niamh just returned, I gave it to her. She looked like she was not sure if she wanted it. It was after all a dwarven bow. But when she picked it up it grew into elven size. and when he tried it she was convinced pretty fast. We decided to take a short rest to find out what these items could do. They were magical for sure!
I was identifying the boots during my rest, and found out you could use them to double your run speed for 10 minutes per day. Niamh found out the bow was indeed magical and very good! And the mask we guessed to be worth about 2000g! Enough to buy some Plate armor! Ofcourse I also got curious in the other sarcophagus, and soon convinced most to help me open it. Inside we found a male dwarven skeleton, wearing a full plate armor, and holding a small hammer and chisel in his hand. After we checked for traps I again took those out. The group didn't want to take another hour to identify these items, which were magical for sure. So I decided to just don the armor, with some help of the others. It fitted perfectly, and when it didn't fit it adjusted itself to fit! It felt great compared to the splint armor I had. I left that one behind here. The hammer and chisel went to Varaf to Identify later.
Niamh told us about some Ogres in the next room. So we decided to go another direction. There was a hallway with stairs down that lead to some kind of Forge, were fire-snake-like creatures were working. There were some stairs upstaits that lead to a room were something was sleeping. And a hallway with 12 doors! We didn't see any blood trails here, so decided to check the hallway with the doors. We found out that the last 8 doors couldn't be open from the inside. So they were prisons. Behind some of them they heared something talking in a Demonlike language, and on the other side scratching sounds. In the first 4 we heared sleeping sounds.
We decided to open one of the doors with sleeping sounds. Arisys and later Varaf went inside, but it ended with someone in there screaming, and soon 3 doors opened and a fight started. There was a lot of fire and a fireball involved, but in the end we got them down pretty quickly. After that the prisoned demons were asking to be freed, at least that is what Varaf said they were saying. We decided that was a good idea and freed them. It turned out to be the contruct dwarfs with firebeards. After we gave them some weapons they ran towards the Forge!
