Day 11
A short fight and the Featherfail Society was no more. Thurl had fled by flying
off on a griffin, leaving his troops behind. Thurl flew off east into some kind
of a cave. He left behind the bound sniveling coward. He was mostly useless,
not seeming to know anything. Even threatening to throw him off the tower a
couple of times didn't seem to help. While we were wondering how on earth
Lirmyi had managed to end up at the bottom of the valley, I found the
countainer with a slip of paper on the ground: the other half of the scroll.
Funny to think that such a thing triggered the extinction of the society.
Combined with what we remembered of the other half, it read:
Miroska
We are pleased to hear about the outcome of
your altercation with the Black Earth cult, and
we praise for the capture of one of their
prisoners. This noblewoman from Waterdeep
has an interesting tale to tell and we shall enjoy
interrogating her further. Keep a close watch on
the Sacred Stone monastery. I want to know what
our enemy is planning next.
Your beloved queen,
Aerisy Kalinoth
That did shine a new light on the story. Desseyna had been kidnapped and
interrogated by the Featherfail Society! Luckily we punished them already!
Even before we knew about it!
After some more "convincing" the bound frequent flyer corroborated the story but he seemed to be mostly interested in getting us to promise we wouldn't throw him off the tower. Useless! Might as well throw him off the tower! He did mention the cave Thurl flew off into was the Queen's Temple which was apparently a huge place.
We searched Thurl's room. There seemed nothing especially interesting to find except for some valuables, some scrolls and a potion. The scrolls were for one ritual, Skywrite, and one spell, Beastbond. I guess I'll keep them handy for later.
The others searched the rest of the tower. Mostly some valuables, some servants and a few giant vultures. Niamh managed to convince two of the vultures to help pick up Lirmyi from the bottom of the valley.
They set the vultures and the servants free and claimed they couldn't find the earlier prisoner. Odd but who cares.
While "guarding" the Featherfail prisoner, Naeris freed him. Argh! This will probably haunt us later. We will probably be ambushed by him later and he will drag us off to the tower to throw us off.
After some well-deserver R&R in our newly acquired residence, the only logical course of action was to head to the Queen's temple and go and free Deseyna.
We walked over to the Queen's temple and enter it there. It quickly became narrower and darker. Arisys lit a torch but the others seemed to have not trouble seeing. It was an interestingly gloomy pleace. We walked along a rather narrow path next to a river while we got attacked by two poncy human spellcasters. They danced and twirled and were really fast. We quickly started to retaliate!
