Day 5

The next morning we got some breakfast. That was all what happened until the beginning of the afternoon when the door opened. It was Savra! She looked alive, so that was a good sign. We were taken to a big dining room a couple of floors higher. There Thurl was sitting on his chair, next to him there was a Wood Elf called Niamh, and some more of the Feathergale Society (it turned out that's how they called themselves). He apologized for their attack on us (some of the surviving attackers were in the room). They thought we were of the Black Earth. There was good ale and meat, so time to eat and drink! Meanwhile we learned they were living here for only 10 years (today was their anniversary), and were practicing their "knight on a bird" hobby here. Niamh was in the area because nature was out of balance in these hills.

I already finished quite a number of beers when someone came running in. "Manticore!" he screamed, and Thurl promised a big shiny ring to the one killing it! We ran upstairs, which confused me. Because the door was downstairs, was the Maticore on the roof? I followed and we came on the roof of the tower. Nice view here! Meanwhile Thurl jumped on a bird and started searching for the Manticore. There were some birds without rider, so I climbed on it without hesitation (not sure why, but I blame the ale). I clamped myself to the bird and said "Go!". It started flying! It felt easier then I would have expected, the birds must have been trained very well. Others also jumped on birds. Only Varaf stayed behind, something about messing up his hair...

The others went after Thurl leaving only me and Naeris still going in the same direction. Guess we were both wondering how to turn this thing. But no need for that, since we saw the Manticore. It shooted spines at us, and I quickly held my shield before the incoming spine to protect the bird. Then I told it to land, so we could fight the Manticore on the ground. Naeris just yelled "Charge" and the bird charged the Manticore and Naeris hit it with his sword. Maybe that's what I should do next time. When I looked back again the Manticore was nowhere to be seen.

Then we heared a horn blown by Thurl. We quickly went there and when we arrived there they were already fighting the Manticore. Spines flew around hitting people and birds, others charged and hit it or shooted arrows to it. I also let the bird charge and gave it two big swings with my Hammer. After some other hits suddenly there was this look in the face of the Manticore and it crashed down. Not sure what hit it, but I think nobody was close by at that moment. Then we flew back to the tower and continued the party with a Manticore head on the table! We never saw the shiny ring, so I guess Thurl decided he killed it himself.

At the end of the evening when all others left except us and the Wood Elf, Thurl told us about some evil monks living in a monastery in the hills. He expected them to be from the Black Earth, and asked us to investigate. Being this drunk I had no reason at all to say no to that.
I went to our room and some servant was lying in my bed. I put him in another bed. Before I went to sleep I took a look at my ancient map. Something Thurl told us about the monastery location triggered me and indeed I was right! The Forgotten Dwarven Stronghold was located very close to the monastery! Good choice to visit it! And I went to bed...

Day 6

The next morning we were brought close to the monastery by the birds. The last part we had to walk. It was located in a valley. When I checked my ancient map I was sure it was the same place. But the dwarven stronghold was located undergound. When studying the monsatary, I noticed it was initially build by Dwarfs, but others have modified it after that. Iymril was asking question about why I knew these things and I showed him the map and explained it.
Meanwhile Naeris had knocked on the door. Someone had opened, asked what we wanted and closed again. He knocked again and aked if they were from the Black Earth. Seems that made someone angry and the door got closed again.

I proposed to walk around the monastery to check for backdoors. And indeed soon we found one. Close to it it seemed some of the building parts were collapsed. Naeris knocked on the backdoor, but nobody answered. I proposed to silently break the door open, but Arisys wanted to pick the lock, which would probably be even more silent. When he got it open there was a hallway and a door to the left. Arisys listened and mentioned she heared some fighting noiced from 3 people behind it. Niamh didn't want to wait any longer opened the door.

There 3 monks where practicing martial arts in a practice room. When they saw us the one winning yelled "Intruders!" and all 3 started to attack us and from another door 2 more appeared!
